Using An Absinthe Fountain

During the Belle Epoque, Absinthe Fountains were brought to your table so you could prepare your absinthe to your taste. Absinthe fountains are by far the best way to properly louche an absinthe as you have precise control of the drip rate of the water.

Using A Fountain: Add approximately one ounce of absinthe to your glass. A quality absinthe will usually provide the best louche at a 1:3 to 1:5 ratio. Place your Absinthe Spoon on top of your glass and a sugar cube on the spoon. Position your glass so the water drips over the cube. Turn the spigot on the fountain to your desired drip rate. A steady drip to a slow stream is preferred.

As water is added to the absinthe, the alcohol concentration falls allowing the release of herbal oils and aromas held in concentration by the high alcohol content of absinthe. The herbal oils form the louche lending a milky white, opalescent appearance to the drink.

Remember: Always use ice cold, pure water for the best tasting drink.

I've wanted an absinthe fountain for quite some time, and after shopping around for weeks, Absinthe On The Net provided the best value I could find. We requested glasses that did not fit well with the fountain we ordered, and Tony contacted us within a few hours to explain why he wouldn't recommend them, but ultimately left the choice to us. We went with his recommendation & the fountain & glasses we received exceeded my expectations - absolutely beautiful! Between quality of the product, the personal service, the quick shipping & the price, this was definitely a 5 star experience. I couldn't ask for anything more.

The fountain is as detailed and attractive as the picture and arrived quickly in extensive packaging so nothing was damaged despite its fragility.  We are looking forward to seeing my husbands face at Christmas!

Finally gave in and ordered a fountain -
Order was processed quickly and was experlty packed - definately was worried about breakage with so much glassware. Looks fabulous and all pieces seem very heavy duty/'restauraunt grade'.  The only problem was a confusion at the post office about where the package was after I missed the first delivery attempt, but that has to do with my post office and not the store and i only include so i dont sound like a bot lol
